Cruize a success
Cruize Paradise 2018, held June 28 to July 8 on Hawaii Island and hosted by the Hawaii Classic Cruizers Inc., was a huge success.
This triennial 11-day classic car event brought people together from across the United States to our very own Hawaii Island. Car enthusiasts from Texas, Oregon, California, Washington, Maui and Oahu shipped their classic vehicles to participate in car shows and daily cruising with our very own Big Island enthusiasts.
Cruize Paradise 2018 included car shows at Kona Target/McDonald’s, Waikoloa’s Queens’ MarketPlace and Hilo’s Bayfront at the Fourth of July Hilo Bay Blast. Other memorable events included a treasure hunt from Hilo to Kona where drivers stopped at various businesses to obtain a special item. Stopping at these businesses allowed the drivers to support businesses such as Papaaloa Store, Tex Drive-In, Waimea Starbucks and NAPA Auto Parts in Kona.
A drive-in movie night was held at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium parking lot, and the featured movie was the “The Fast and the Furious.” Food trucks, a popcorn booth and a smoothie truck provided meals and refreshments for purchase. Admission was free for everyone. The parking lot was filled, and everyone enjoyed the movie, and the atmosphere of watching a movie under the stars or in your vehicle was especially memorable!
This event would not be possible without the partnership with the county’s Department of Parks &Recreation, NAPA Auto Parts and other sponsors.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of spectators who came out to support Cruize Paradise 2018. I’d like to thank all of the Big Island car enthusiasts who took the time to prepare their vehicles for the shows, talked with the spectators, allowed them to take photos of their vehicles and who showed the aloha spirit! This event would not be possible without the support of the Big Island car enthusiasts!
Remember, having one classic car is cool, having 10 classics is awesome, but having hundreds of classics together at one time on the field or in a parking lot creates a feeling and an experience like no other. And for this, I am thankful to live in Hawaii and feel the support of this beautiful community!
The classics created a splash of eye candy on Hawaii Island this summer!
